Biography
Launched by Everything But The Girl's Ben Watt in April 2003 as part of his lateral career as DJ-remixer, Buzzin' Fly Records has wasted no time in establishing itself as one of the most respected modern labels on the deep house underground.
Four nominations in the inaugural House Music Awards 2004 testify to the impact it has made in its first year. With a killer website and a commitment to uncover new talent, the label hosts not only dancefloor productions from Ben himself but also young forward-facing producer-DJs such as San Francisco's Justin Martin (Breakthrough DJ Nomination / 1st House Music Awards 2004), Lyon's Manoo and Lisbon's Alex S.
The label's eponymous fortnighly west London Sunday party is one of the capital's best nights. Biggest hits - Watt's 'Lone Cat' (Track Of The Year Nomination / 1st House Music Awards 2004), 'A Stronger Man' feat Sananda Maitreya (aka Terence Trent D'Arby) and the Watt-mixed Buzzin' Fly Vol 1 mix CD ('A house music classic' - BPM. 'Album Of The Week' Update. 'A sublime mix' - iDJ), plus Justin Martin's 'The Sad Piano' and Rodamaal's 'Musica Feliz'. As DMC Update noted - 'There's no denying the fact that this label has succeeded in putting out a string of quality releases while managing to carve their own niche, sounding both fresh and distinctive.'
