Biography
Nestling gleefully between Parliament's P Funk-ations and Basmement Jaxx's party stylings, The Bugz In The Attic are set to bring back the love to the dancefloor with their first full-length release...
Mysterious lords of the dusty top floor studio, multi membered masters of the beat and remixers par excellence, Bugz in the Attic are finally set to release a retrospective of their finest productions to date. With a collective musical ear that has never strayed from the dancefloor but equally stands loyal to the intricate genius of the original protagonists, their combined studio nouse and lifetimes of devotion to the music that turns them on have created an album which will help springboard them toward 2005 and the eagerly awaited release of their debut studio album.
Orin 'Afronaught' Walters, Paul 'Seiji' Dolby, Kaidi Tatham, Daz-I-Kue, Alex Phountzi, Cliff Scott, Mark Force, Matt Lord and Mikey Stirton make up the crew of individual talent but also a common view of, and love for, dance music. The group boasts a label, BitaSweet Records, a studio, The BitaSuite, and the Bugz production company, and now their first longplayer release.
The list of collaborators reads like a compendium of the great and the good of all quarters of dance music from which the Bugz unmistakable sound is drawn. The electric soul of 4Hero and Vikter Duplaix, the wigged out boogie of Macy Gray and Dwele and the funk of Amp Fiddler all combine beautifully in their audio recipe, and their influences can be found combined in the Bugz own blistering new track 'Booty (La La)'
The Bugz maintain a very individual approach to their operation, and it is this that has helped push their sound forward and prevent them getting stuck in any musical rut or fashion. The likes of Seiji, Afronaught, Kaidi Tatham, Mark Force and BB Boogie have all carved reputations in their own right and on their own terms, but the Bugz crew have together upheld a reputation across Europe and the World which their sheer number and vision has helped to maintain. Regular and long running club nights such as Co-Op at London's Plastic People, and a Fabric Live mix cd have been the focus of their activities of late, but along with the exclusive new production 'Booty (La La)' on this album, the return to the studio will now take precedent.
The Bugz will be taking their new tracks to the nation's dancefloors throughout the winter, ranging from PA performances to a live set up for 2005. These promise to be something truly special, drawing on the amassed talent and experience of the crew to conjure up a truly dynamic show.
Until then, drink in this collection of classic Bugz In The Attic moments and keep an eye on www.bugzintheattic.net for future updates.
